Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire turns 1 year old

It looks like Obsidian has managed to spare some resources from The Outer Worlds' development to make some improvements to Pillars of Eternity II. Today they release the final patch, marking the end of 1 year of content updates, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements to the game.

In this patch, turn-based combat has been taken out of beta and is now in the main game. I'm not personally a big fan of turn-based combat but there is a lot of players who prefer that style so this should be a nice update for them. It should be especially nice for players coming from Divinity: Original Sin. The second PoE DLC pack, Seeker, Slayer, Survivor, really showed how good the real-time combat can be.

Additionally, Obsidian has introduced 'The Ultimate Challenge'. Attempting this will enable a ton of settings that make the game more difficult, including Path of the Damned which enables character perma-death. The first 12 players to complete the game in this mode, with video evidence, will receive a cool looking badge from Obsidian.

PoE 2 Ultimate Patch
Since its release last year there have been 3 DLC packs and a ton of bug fixes and improvements. Obsidian carried over a lot of refinements that they made during Tyranny to create probably their best RPG in this classic style. It was by far my favorite game of 2018 and I fully recommend it.
