Get some classic Settlers goodness with MicroTown

For those who remember the Settlers series, there's a game for you. MicroTown takes on the Settlers-style city building and wraps it in some pleasant retro pixel graphics. Released into early access in August of this year, development is still going strong and the latest patch introduced some nice quality-of-life changes.

Gameplay in MicroTown starts on an uninhabited island and it's up to the player to colonize it the way he/she sees fit. Building mines, woodcutters, farms, and various other township buildings will be required to satisfy the needs of the villagers. And in classic city-builder style, it's all about managing production chains to keep everything running smoothly.

The opening tutorial does a good job easing the player into the game and introducing the basic mechanics for those that are unfamiliar with the genre. Even in early access, there's already a surprising amount of content and a lot to unlock by advancing through the tech trees.

A good city-builder has to give the player a satisfying feeling when everything is running smoothly and efficiently, and MicroTown does just that.

MicroTown is currently available on Steam.
